Pro-Friends: Lancaster’s St. Edward Integrated School

Property Company of Friends Inc or PROFRIENDS have launched the St. Edward Integrated School in June 2012 offering Kindergarten 1-2, Grades 1-4, and 1st-2nd year high school. They might expand that soon, depending on the number of enrollees and the success of the school. Just last February 2013, another new 4-storey building (Annex) with 32 classroom units were added to give more learning spaces for the St. Edward students. 6.6 hectares of land was dedicated to the school. It has three buildings and a contemporary architectural design by RGB Architecture – a Hong Kong-based firm. PRO-Friends chair and St. Edward Integrated School founder Gerry Choa and President Jocelyn Guzman led the opening ceremonies.

It is said that “St. Edward Integrated School is a welcome addition to Lancaster Estates and is a continuing effort on the part of Pro-Friends to build a self-sustaining community for its residents.  Children of the township will get a quality education without having to go out of their community.”

St. Edward Integrated School is built right in the heart of Lancaster Estates. I am not sure if outsiders can enroll in the said school, too. I also don’t know if children of neighboring PCFI communities can also enroll (but it would be better if they allowed).  Thanks to the Manila-Cavite expressway (CAVITEX), travel to Lancaster Estates is just less than 20 minutes from the Coastal road in Parañaque.

Features of the SEIS Annex Building :

  • Speech Lab – the Speech Lab is a state-of-the-art facility that will hone students’ communication skills. It is designed to be highly engaging to develop students’ facility of the language.
  • Mini-Auditorium – this 150-seater mini-auditorium is a facility that will enable the hosting of congregations and assemblies of students and other important activities. It will be coupled by acoustic fixtures, digital sound and video equipment.
  • Computer Laboratory – the Computer Laboratory is an extension of the existing computer lab in the present building. There will now be separate computer labs for the grade school and high school levels.
  • Computer Hardware Servicing Laboratory – the computer Hardware Servicing Laboratory is an extension facility of the computer labs. This will be exclusively for the computer hardware troubleshooting and servicing course to be offered to the students as an elective course for high school.
  • Cafeteria- the cafeteria spans almost four classrooms and is designed to provide students with a convenient dining hall during breaks and lunch.

I have only seen the school from the outside. Maybe if my sister or I get to have children in the future, we may finally get to see the inside and the amenities available in St. Edward Integrated School. If it becomes a success, they might even expand to establishing a college..? We never know! I wonder what courses would be offered though. I think IT courses would be great in order to complement the SunTech IT Park. Business courses would be great, too, and the local flea market would be their honing grounds.
