ProFriends: Cleaning the Bathroom

Cleaning the bathroom can be a daunting task. It ain’t pretty but you got to do what you got to do in order to have a pretty bathroom.

I was always tasked with cleaning it since my mom is old and can’t really do tiring chores anymore. My sister is maarte (fussy and very feminine) and she does not clean bathrooms well. Living in a new Lancaster home (c/o Property of Friends Company, Inc or Pro friends) also makes me more O.C. so I am actually glad to handle bathroom cleaning rather than letting my sister do it. I would like to maintain its spanking brand new feel through thorough cleaning.

If you’d like to maintain your clean bathroom or just really learn how to clean it well, then read onwards (I clean only one a week since it’s a tiring task).

First off, you will need a small plastic bowl, nice handheld floor brush, rough sponge, powder cleanser, and bleach. You may also use some scented laundry detergent to have a bit of a nice smell while cleaning and after cleaning your bathroom. There are scented bleaches as well. You may opt for that if you want.

Gear yourself. Wear rubber gloves so that you won’t have direct skin contact with the cleaning mixture you’ll have to make and with the dirt and grime. Your skin may become irritated or may develop rashes and such over time. Wear a face mask, too, if you can’t take the strong smell of bleach. You may also wear protective goggles so that cleaning agents won’t get into your eyes. Finally, wear old clothes so that it would be okay if your clothes come in direct contact with bleach.

Remove things that don’t need cleaning or cannot be wet (plants, shampoos, body wash, toothbrushes, etc). Temporarily put them outside of the bathroom.

In your small bowl, mix ¼ tbsp. of powder cleanser, ¼ tbsp. of scented laundry detergent, 2 caps of bleach, and 1/8 cup of water. Mix together using your gloved hand. Measurements do not need to be exact. Just estimate it. Depending on the size of the bathroom, you may need to make the same cleaning mixture again.

Rough sponge

Using your rough sponge, drench it in the mixture and scrub your bath paraphernalia first (tabo or dipper, pail, shower head, bath tub, handles, toiletries rack, etc). Next are the wall tiles. Put some elbow grease into it. You don’t want molds and dirt to stay within those lines between tiles. Start from the top then proceed downwards.

After the walls and sink, pour some of your mixture on to the floor and scrub well using the hand brush. Use an old toothbrush for tiny corners and hard to reach places. You may use a mop-like floor brush for easier cleaning. I just like to use a handheld one because I want to really control the scrubbing strength and speed.

Finally, the toilet should cleaned using the rough sponge again. Start with the exterior. The inside of the bowl should last. If it’s too yucky for you (even if you’re wearing gloves haha), use a toilet brush. Pour the mixture in then scrub your toilet bowl clean. Rinse everything using your tabo and pail or your extendable shower head (hose it down to the drain).

It’s all wet so let it dry on its own. Once all dried up, put the things you removed back in place and voila! Your bathroom is cleaned!

A beauty, isn’t it? So go ahead and get cleaning!
